Pecan & Macadamia Praline Apple Pie

It’s getting chilly and pie was in order! I was apprehensive to make my first paleo pie but wowza! It is so good I wish I could share with everyone …

Crust :

3/4 cup sifted almond flour
1/4 cup coconut flour
1/4 cup tapioca flour
8 tablespoons cold grassfed unsalted butter, cut into cubes
4 tablespoons maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon vanilla bean powder, optional
1/4 teaspoon salt
Ice Water



– Place the flours, and butter in a mixer bowl and use your hands to break the butter up with the flours until you have broken up the butter.
– Add the remaining ingredients except for the ice water … Mix on slow in mixer.
– I don’t ever measure the water I just add a tablespoon at a time until the dough just holds together.
– This dough is hard to roll out (I tried) so I just pushed it into a seasoned pan.
– Bake in 375 degree oven for 10-12 minutes, then take out and set aside.


4 apples, peeled, cored and chopped small
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup tapioca flour
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons vanilla



– Combine all ingredients in large bowl and throw into par baked crust.
– Make topping.

1 1/2 cups pecan and mac nuts (or walnuts… Whatever you like)
2 tablespoons grassfed butter
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon salt






– Chop the nuts, I could not keep my daughters hands out of them!
– Place in pan and pan roast on medium for about 2 minutes.
– Add the butter, maple syrup, and salt and cook for about 1 minute.
– Pour directly over the apple mixture and bake in 325 degree oven for 40 minutes.
